Mark Yoslow (USA)
Biography
Mark Yoslow, a New York native [living in Los Gatos, CA], is now working towards his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto [CA]. In February, he began studying the third generation of Holocaust survivors for his dissertation, entitled, “The Pride and Price of Remembrance: Post-Holocaust Research Study.” Transpersonal Psychology, he explains, is the study of psychology in combination with spirituality.
Lecture
He will propose a 45-minute presentation of a paper that is based on his dissertation, the Pride and Price of Remembrance, which is a study of transgenerational Holocaust trauma in the grandchildren of Holocaust Survivors that is expressed as a post-Holocaust trauma. Among the assessments employed in this study are the Heartland Forgiveness Scale, which measures forgiveness of self, other, and situations out of one’s control, as well as the Posttraumatic Stress Diagnostic Scale, and the Life Changes Inventory, which measures transformation.
Dr. Shani Robins of the ITP Core Faculty is a member of Yoslows dissertation committee, and he has strongly encouraged him to apply to the conference as he feels the dramatic findings of this work will contribute to a greater understanding of the long-term consequences of terror in transgenerational trauma, and the role of transformation in forgiveness.
